Live Green

Living Green

The phrase 'going green' has exploded into popular culture. If you were asked to define what 'going green' means, could you do it?

Going green is defined as 'The social phenomenon describing individuals who use their consumer voice to increase sustainability and decrease their impact on the environment.'

How does a person 'go green'? One 'goes green' by educating oneself and making small changes every day. Sounds simple, but in actuality it is a challenging task to perform.

The concept of 'Keeping up with the Joneses' is unique to American society. The idea that we secretly compare and compete with our neighbors and friends is as all-American as apple pie and baseball. Most find this secret competitiveness harmless and somewhat humorous, while others find it strange. Other people look at it as a striking example of good, old-fashioned, consumerism.

Whatever your personal opinion of what it means to 'Keep up with the Joneses', We Can Live Green challenges you to stop. Now.

The average American uses over 300 shopping bags of food and resources in a day. (We're not talking eating that much. We're talking the products you use - including food - and all the energy and resources it takes to make the products and then get the products to you.)

Take a look around you. Americans have a lot of stuff! We invented the garage sale for a reason, didn't we? Now, take a look around you again. How much of that stuff do you really need? Really?

Most Americans realize their shopping decisions negatively affect the environment. In fact, the majority will admit that our insatiable consumerism is lending a big helping hand in climate change. Yet, we continue to desperately attempt to 'Keep up with the Joneses'. Why? Are we really that insecure as a nation?

Still not convinced? Take a good, long look at your children tonight. If you don't have children, think of your niece, your nephew, your boss's kid with those adorable freckles, the kid down the street with the funny laugh, your dog, or whoever/whatever you care about.

Ask yourself, "Am I making decisions that will leave this world a better place for them when I am gone?" Be honest with yourself. And please, think twice next time about 'Keeping up with the Joneses'.

Living Green is all about doing with less stuff each day.  Once you develop the habit of ridding yourself of all types of baggage, you will begin to evaluate your life and living in an entirely new and greener way.  In my opinion, Living Greener Lives is a conceptual idea, rather than a brash eco-world statement.  Its all about mindset, visualization and the desire to improve living to a greater degree.

When you choose to build a Good Business with this same intent in mind, you begin to evaluate your stance on making money using Google as the resource of choice.  You will begin to refocus your mind into areas that you have not yet gone.  Living Green is about thinking, so THINK GREEN!

In my opinion, this is SOHO business at the core.  When you can become a green thinker, then you move away from the mentality that most have in terms of making money.  You simply choose to green think your way to success, and having visualized this, you will accomplish your goals.
